Erika Norris - About Me

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist accredited full member with BACP.

I completed my Level 5 Diploma at Reflect-On Academy and my Level 7 Diploma in couple counselling with the NAOS Institute.

In my private practice I work from an integrative perspective drawing on a range of therapeutic understanding and interventions. I have worked in the NHS and in a community setting (providing long term/low cost counselling) as well as in a Secondary School. Currently I provide bereavement counselling to families.

My approach to therapy is open, direct and non-judgemental with a compassionate a and nurturing attitude. Life can be difficult and painful sometimes as we may face bereavement, illness, relationship breakdown, work dissatisfaction, dilemmas and confusion or other challenges we may encounter. Each one of us brings our own unique way of being in the world that is: how you see the world and yourself and how you think about your resources (or lack of resources) to cope with life challenges.

One of my therapeutic approaches
Some people are better suited to have 1 focused session where a problem can be explored and solutions can be processed in a time limited way. It is a structured, directed, therapist led session. You decide what is your presenting issue and I will respectfully help you find your own ways to cope with it and move forward with new solutions.

Client testimonials

  • “Our daughter was at a very low ebb when we first considered counselling. She was low and she couldn’t see a way out. Her school have a student services department but nobody in it seemed able to reach our daughter. Our daughter saw Erika who has been a complete God send. I’m delighted to say that our daughter is now in a much better place. She is happier and much more confident in herself. I watched her change over the weeks she was seeing Erika and it was wonderful to see her blossom into a confident young woman.”

  • “We are beyond grateful to Erika for the professional and tremendous support our son has been offered during what has been a very difficult time for us as a family.”

  • “When our daughter started seeing Erika she was extremely anxious, angry and upset. Her mood was worryingly low and she found it hard to articulate her feelings. Erika met with us both at first to get an idea of what was happening and then continued to see our daughter weekly.

Over the weeks we saw a dramatic change in our daughters mood. Erika validated her feelings and taught her techniques to help manage her anxiety and rebuild her self esteem.

She was sympathetic, caring and had a gentle, calming presence. Erika also worked closely with our daughters school to ensure she was getting the care and support she needed and always responded quickly to messages from myself during difficult weeks.

We are immensely grateful to Erika for the all the support she has given not only our daughter but us as a family.

    I cannot recommend her enough!”

  • “Thank you for everything. I cannot express the gratitude and appreciation I have for all you have done; especially after the issues surrounding me in October 2022. Without you I would not be standing as tall as I am now.” - E

“It’s not about getting the feeling out of the mind, or hiding it, but about experiencing it with acceptance.”
